Tips & Tools

Select Between Sleep Positions. The new Comfort Index Software v.5.0 allows retail mattress sales representatives to work with customers to identify the percentage of time customers spend in various sleep positions (e.g. front/back and side). This information is then combined with the customer’s pressure distribution profile on different mattresses to select the ideal mattress for their unique body type. To select sleep positions for one or two people:

Step 1: Number of People
  • Select number of persons to be pressure mapped: One Person or Two People

Step 2: Sleep Positions

  • Slide the toolbar toward the Back/Front sleeping position (left) or the Side sleeping position (right)

Step 3: Begin

  • Select "Begin"
  • The software will weigh all pressure data according to the sleeping preferences selected in Steps 1 & 2

Compare Up to Six (6) Mattresses. The new Comfort Index Software v.5.0 allows customer pressure distribution profiles on up to six different mattresses to be contrasted and compared. Take pressure readings for up to six mattresses:

Step 1: Person ONE lies down comfortably

  • In back sleeping position: Click on "Record" button, then click on "Stop" button
  • Turn over to side sleeping position: Click on "Record" button, then click on "Stop" button

Step 1: Person TWO lies down comfortably

  • In back sleeping position: Click on "Record" button, then click on "Stop" button
  • Turn over to side sleeping position: Click on "Record" button, then click on "Stop" button

Step 3: Repeat above process for up to six mattresses

Step 4: Compare results on the Comfort Index Screen

Making Sense (Glossary)

Peak Pressure - The highest pressure reading on any sensel in the sensor pad. It is possible for more than one sensel to share the same highest reading.

Capacitive Sensing Technology
- Capacitance is an electrical property of any two conductive surfaces separated by anything nonconductive. The amount of capacitance between the conducting surfaces depends, in part, on the distance separating the two surfaces. Changing the distance will change the amount of capacitance. XSENSOR sensor pads use this phenomenon to measure pressure distribution. In an XSENSOR system, an applied pressure distribution will compress the sensor pad and change each sensel's capacitance by an amount related to the applied pressure. The system then measures the change in capacitance and converts it to a pressure reading as determined by the calibration process.
