What's New?

X3 Tire Sensor Speed
The new X3 tire sensor system is several times faster than the X2 version and offers a more dynamic image. X3 sensors are generating interest from industry leaders, including Goodyear, BF Goodrich, and Dunlop.

Enhanced X3 Seat Sensor Sensitivity & Pressure Image Quality
The increased sensitivity and measurement capabilities of XSENSOR's new custom X3 seat sensors provide automotive and aerospace seat designers and test engineers with more sophisticated pressure data. In fact, pressure images from recent test labs are now so detailed that they clearly reveal the seams and pockets from the vehicle occupants' pants!

XSENSOR Strengthens Research Team
XSENSOR is pleased to announce the recent hiring of a new research scientist. Dr. Timothy Gorjanc, PhD will enhance our product development and sensor research capabilities and will further strengthen our efforts to develop world class pressure imaging innovations.

Tips & Tools

Data Attributes - New X3 PRO v.5.0 software allows for attributes to be added to data while recording allows for easy sorting and analysis of exported data. This is very useful for researchers using numerical and subjective data to conduct statistical analysis. To add attributes to data:
  1. Select Comments Icon (document with folded corner) from main toolbar; this will open a comments box on the screen

  2. Under Tools, select Define Attribute Fields

  3. Add appropriate data attributes (e.g. weight, age)

  4. In Comments box, enter values for each attribute

Making Sense (Glossary)

Peak Pressure - The highest pressure reading on any sensel in the sensor pad. It is possible for more than one sensel to share the same highest reading.

Capacitive Sensing Technology
- The XSENSOR capacitive pressure sensor is comprised of two arrays of parallel conductive strips that are set perpendicular in orientation. The grids are separated by a thin compressible elastomer. The intersection of any two perpendicular strips forms a capacitive node. The capacitance at each node is determined, in part, by the distance of separation between the two strips as determined by the compressible elastomer. As pressure is applied to the node, the elastomer compresses, the strips are forced closer together, and the capacitance increases. The change in capacitance is correlated to pressure through a process of calibration.
